Thanks for your comment.
Per...Hello Splendidwide,

Thanks for your comment.

Perhaps South Korea overall profits much from the established US bases in its territory. One of which is the contribution to the ability of your government, nationalistic enough though dictatorial for a long time during Park Chung Hee's and similarly succeeding military dictatorships, to concentrate more on economic development (given that the US Bases provided/supplemented to South Korean national security).

[Of course, to the present, the bases has created a prostitution industry around them using many of my fellow countrywomen driven to it by our homeland's miserable poverty.]

As to the claim that we suffered by kicking out the US bases (assisted by the Mt. Pinatubo eruption), I just say your conservative politicians are either ignorant of my homeland's history re 50 years American colonialism, which was initially and overtly brutal for the first dozen years of the Philippine-American War (like fighting an Indian War as many of its officers and men were veterans of the Indian Wars and Filipinos were seen as "niggers"), established public education and imposing English language and books thus subtly molding for subsequent generations to the present the native Filipino minds into Americanized minds and in the process suppressing Filipino nationalism with its disastrous consequences to the native majority.

Or your politicians profit from the US military arrangements and deny your generation et al these historical truths.

If interested you can visit my blog, search my archives, check the associated SCRIBD in its sidebar, or Google Search my blog to get much details which I do not want to re-write here.

Anyway, your comment is well appreciated.

Regards,

BertBert M. I would not say about the U.S bases presence in other countries since I think have no right for it, neither do I have enough knowledge to say something about it.
As for our hosting U.S base, It appears obvious that the benefit is greater than the loss.
Tell you what, some conservative politicans in my country, when they need to explain to the public why the U.S base has to be here, often quote the case of Philippines. They say the U.S base withrawal in Philippines not only brought a great damage to the economy, but also allowed Chinese military infringe to the former filipino territory sprately isle.Splendidwidenoreply@blogger.com
